Carlisle United Defender Leaves for Spennymoor Town
Carlisle United's Sam Murray has left the club to join Spennymoor Town on a one-year deal. The 21-year-old left-back has signed with the National League North side after being released by Carlisle at the end of last season.
Why it Matters for Carlisle
Murray's departure from Carlisle marks the end of an era for the club, which had high hopes for the young defender. Despite his experience with Manchester United's youth team, Murray struggled to force his way into Mark Hughes' side, making only six appearances for the club.
What Comes Next?
Spennymoor Town boss Tommy Miller is delighted to have signed Murray, who he believes will bring great energy and balance to the team. Murray is set to make his debut for his new club in their home clash with Merthyr Town on Saturday.
As Murray looks to revive his career in the National League North, he will be joined by his new teammates, including ex-Carlisle striker Richie Bennett and recent United trialist Jack Young. Meanwhile, another former Carlisle player, Paddy Madden, has returned to Bohemians after his departure from Chesterfield.
