Carlisle United midfielder Jonah Lowes has rejoined Darlington on loan until January 5. The 18-year-old academy graduate returns to the National League North club where he impressed during a spell last season.

Lowes is in his first professional campaign with Carlisle after coming through the youth system. He made his league debut as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Yeovil Town last month and has been part of head coach Rob Elliot's first-team squad this season.

Rob Elliot stated he currently has enough midfield options to allow Lowes to go out and gain regular playing time. Carlisle United recently signed Teddy Jenks permanently from Worthing to bolster their midfield. Senior players Harvey Macadam and Elliot Embleton are currently out injured, but Elliot believes the squad depth is sufficient.

The loan deal includes a recall option for Carlisle. This provides flexibility should their midfield situation change during the coming months. Lowes becomes the second young Carlisle professional to move to Darlington this season, following winger Amaru Smith.

Darlington FC issued a statement welcoming the teenager back to the club. "The club is buzzing to have you back with us, Jonah and can’t wait to see you in Quaker colours again," they said.

Lowes was eligible to play for Darlington in their National League North match against King's Lynn Town on Saturday afternoon. Darlington began the day 18th in the National League North after their first six games of the season. At Darlington, Lowes will link up with several former Carlisle United players, including Sam Hetherington, Max Kilsby, and Mark Beck.

Carlisle United finished third in the England National League last season with 95 points from 46 games. Their record was 29 wins, 8 draws, and 9 losses, with a recent form of WWWDD. They scored 87 goals and conceded 51, giving them a +36 goal difference. The title race saw them finish 13 points behind leaders York.

With the new season not yet under way, loan moves like this allow young players to develop. Fans can track the progress of all Carlisle United players, including those out on loan, via the club's official squad page. The full standings from last season's campaign are also available for review.

Lowes will aim to build on the positive impression he made at Darlington last season. His loan spell runs until January 5, giving him several months of competitive football in the National League North. The recall clause means Carlisle can bring him back to Brunton Park if needed, but the primary goal is consistent match experience for the promising teenager.
