Carlisle United secured a 3-1 away victory over Aldershot Town in the National League on Saturday. David Ajiboye scored twice in the first half and Micah Obiero added a late third to seal the points at the EBB Stadium.
Head Coach Rob Elliot made one change from the side that beat AFC Fylde, bringing Ajiboye in for Georgie Kelly. The move paid off inside 12 minutes when Miguel Azeez drove a low ball into the box for Ajiboye to finish. He doubled the lead just before the half-hour, converting from Josh Williams' assist. Ajiboye almost completed a hat-trick before the break but could not quite reach a Teddy Jenks cross.
Aldershot response
Carlisle started the second half strongly, with Regan Linney twice denied by goalkeeper Nick Hayes. The hosts fought back and pulled a goal back through Dominic Odusanya in the 89th minute. That hope was extinguished in stoppage time when substitute Ryan Galvin set up fellow replacement Micah Obiero, who had returned from international duty with Kenya, to fire home Carlisle's third.
Rob Elliot said the two forwards were decisive. "David Ajiboye and Micah Obiero proved to be the difference in a crucial away victory," the head coach told reporters.
The result lifts Carlisle to 14th in the National League table with 16 points from 12 games. It extends their winning run to two matches ahead of next Saturday's home fixture against eighth-placed Kidderminster Harriers.
