Carlisle United have completed the signing of striker Micah Obiero from National League rivals Wealdstone. The 25-year-old Kenyan international joins for an undisclosed fee and has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further year.

Obiero arrives with a proven track record in the fifth tier, having made over 150 National League appearances for the Stones. He scored 29 league goals for the club, including a standout 17-goal haul in the 2025/26 season that earned him Wealdstone's Players' Player of the Season award. He had already netted three times in the opening weeks of the current campaign.

Micah Obiero is a forward with significant experience at this level. His physical attributes and goal threat were highlighted by Carlisle's management following the deal. Rob Elliot, a key figure at Brunton Park, described the new signing as an exciting addition. "Micah's an exciting player, he's got huge technical ability, scores a lot of goals and has great pace and power," Elliot said. "He works hard and he's got that little bit of magic as well, which can unlock teams."

The move represents a step up for Obiero, who was keen to pursue a new challenge. Wealdstone director Rory Fitzgerald confirmed the club's efforts to retain him. "Micah was going into the final year of his contract and we made every attempt to get him to extend his time with us," Fitzgerald explained. "He was clear with us though that he wanted a new challenge to help achieve his ambition to play in the EFL and that he wanted to take this opportunity to join Carlisle."

Obiero joins a Carlisle side currently positioned 14th in the National League table. They have taken eight points from their opening six matches, with a record of two wins, two draws, and two losses. Their recent form reads LWDWD, and they have scored 13 goals while conceding 10, giving them a positive goal difference of three. They sit eight points behind early leaders Boreham Wood in the title race.

The striker adds a different dimension to an attack that will be looking to improve on last season's play-off semi-final defeat. He is eligible to make his debut this weekend when Carlisle host third-placed Southend United at Brunton Park. Fans can view the full upcoming schedule on the club's fixtures page.

This is not Obiero's first stint at Carlisle United. He previously played at Brunton Park on loan from Huddersfield Town during the 2020/21 season, making seven appearances and scoring once. His senior career began with a debut in the Championship for Huddersfield, and he has also had spells at Boston United and FC Halifax Town.

His development at Wealdstone was marked by consistent improvement. After joining the Stones, he scored 14 goals in the 2023/24 season before his 17-goal campaign last term. A brace in a 2-0 victory at Sutton United last season was among his highlights. His form also earned him a first senior cap for Kenya earlier this year.

Carlisle will hope his experience and goal-scoring instinct can help them climb the standings. The two-year deal, with the club's option for a third, provides stability for both player and club as they aim for promotion. The full squad details are available on the official squad list. Obiero's first chance to impress the home supporters comes against Southend United on Saturday.
