Carlisle United fans can now vote for the club's August Player of the Month. The shortlist, announced by Carlisle United Football Club, features four standout performers from the opening weeks of the National League season. The Blues currently sit 14th in the table with eight points from six games, scoring 13 goals but conceding 10.
Midfielder Miguel Azeez made a strong start to life at Brunton Park. He found the net in both the 4-1 win over Hornchurch and the 4-2 victory against Scunthorpe United, finishing the month with two goals from his key midfield role. His teammate Harvey Bunker was another consistent presence in the engine room. Bunker scored a brace in the win over Hornchurch and also netted a late equaliser in the away draw with Yeovil Town earlier in August.
Summer signing Leo Duru quickly established himself as an attacking threat from the right flank. Playing at Brunton Park, the new arrival provided assists in the matches against both Hornchurch and Scunthorpe United. Striker Georgie Kelly led the line throughout the month and scored both of Carlisle's goals in the opening day defeat to Worthing. With captain Morgan Feeney absent at the start of the season, Kelly was handed the armband.
The club is running the fan vote via its official website. Supporters have until 10am on Saturday 12 September to cast their ballots. This gives fans two days from today to have their say on which player deserves the monthly honour. The winner will be announced following the deadline.
The team's form has been mixed, with a recent sequence of results reading loss, win, draw, win, draw. This leaves them eight points behind early leaders Boreham Wood in the title race. The team's attacking output of 13 goals is a positive, but defensive solidity will be a focus. Fans can track the team's progress in the standings and review the full squad list online.
The Player of the Month award offers a chance to recognise individual contributions during a period of adaptation. The result will be known after the Saturday deadline. Carlisle United's next fixture is a key part of their push up the table, and details are available on the club's fixtures page.
