Micah Obiero scored his first goal for Carlisle United to secure a 1-1 draw against Forest Green Rovers. The new recruit struck in the 29th minute to cancel out an eighth-minute opener from Forest Green's Kyle Kelly.

How the game unfolded

Forest Green took an early lead when midfielder Kyle Kelly got forward to meet a fierce cross from Jayden Clarke. Carlisle felt they should have had a penalty in the very first minute when Teddy Jenks went down in the area, but the appeals were waved away. The Blues found their equaliser before the half-hour mark. Jenks caused chaos in the visitors' defence, and when the ball broke loose, Obiero made no mistake with a powerful finish.

Both sides created chances in the second half but neither could find a winning goal. The result leaves Carlisle in 14th place in the National League table with eight points from their opening seven games.

Mid-table stability

This was Carlisle's second consecutive home draw, following a 0-0 stalemate the previous week. Manager Paul Simpson will take encouragement from his side's resilience after falling behind early. The point keeps them firmly in mid-table, one point and one place behind their next opponents, Eastleigh. The squad's current availability can be checked on the club's injuries page.

Carlisle travel to face Eastleigh on Saturday. Eastleigh lost 2-1 at Sutton United in their latest match and sit 13th. Obiero's first goal for the club provides a positive note ahead of that trip south.
